About State-CAMPA (Sikkim)
The Sikkim State Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (State CAMPA) is the nodal body entrusted with the responsibility of managing and utilizing compensatory afforestation funds within the State of Sikkim. Established under the guidelines of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), Government of India, State CAMPA ensures that forest resources that are diverted for non-forest purposes, under the Forest (Conservation) Act, 1980, are effectively compensated through planned afforestation and forest conservation activities.
Whenever forest land is diverted for infrastructure development, mining, hydropower, or other projects, it becomes mandatory for the project authorities to provide funds for compensatory afforestation and associated activities. These funds are collected and managed under the Compensatory Afforestation Fund Act, 2016 and its associated rules. In Sikkim, the State CAMPA serves as the designated authority for the proper management, planning, and execution of these funds.
